Statement of Faith

Statement of Faith as an Independent Christian Church Formed Out of the Restoration Movement:

We Believe in God

We believe in one living and true God, eternally existing in perfect unity as three equally and fully divine Persons: The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each member of the Godhead has the same nature, attributes, and being, and is equally worthy of the same glory, honor, and obedience. (Matthew 28:19-20; John 1:1-4; John 17:3; Acts 5:3-4)

We Believe in God the Father

We believe God the Father created all things for His glory according to his own will through his Son, Jesus Christ. He sustains all things by the Word of His power and grace, exercising lordship over all creation. He is infinite in power, in knowledge, and in perfection, but He also desires relationship with His creation. (Colossians 1:17; Hebrews 1:3; Revelation 4:11; Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 45:5-6; Isaiah 46:9-10; John 17:3; 1 Corinthians 8:4-6; 1 Timothy 2:5; Genesis 1:26; Psalm 45:6-7; Psalm 110:1; Matthew 3:13-17; Matthew 28:17-20; 1 Corinthians 12:4-6)

We Believe in Jesus Christ

He is truly God and truly man, existing for for all eternity. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit and born of the virgin Mary. He lived a life without sin, was crucified on the cross as a sacrifice for our sins, rose from the dead and ascended into Heaven where He now reigns as our High Priest and Mediator. (Matthew 1:22-23; Isaiah 9:6; John 1:1-5; John 8:58; John 10:30-38; John 12:45; John 14:10-30; John 17:5, 24; Hebrews 1:3; Hebrews 4:14-15; Hebrews 7:3; 1 Corinthians 15:3-4; Romans 1:3-4)

We Believe in the Holy Spirit

He is equal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make us aware of our need for Jesus Christ. He lives in every Christian from the moment of salvation and provides Christians with power for living, understanding of spiritual truth, and guidance in doing what is right. We seek to live under his control daily. (2 Corinthians 3:17; John 16:7-13, 14:16-17; Acts 1:8; 1 Corinthians 1:12, 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14; Galatians 5:25; Ephesians 5:18)

We Believe in the Scriptures

Both Old and New Testaments are the inspired Word of God, without error in the original writings, the complete revelation of His will for the salvation of men, and the divine final authority for all Christian faith and life. (2 Timothy 1:13, 3:16; 2 Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 12:6, 119:105, 160; Proverbs 30:5)

We Believe Mankind is Made in the Spiritual Image of God to be Like Him in Character

People are the supreme object of God’s creation. Although people have tremendous potential for good, they are marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called sin. This attitude separates people from God. (Genesis 1:27; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6, 59:1-2; Romans 3:26)

We Believe that Man is Saved by Grace Through Faith in Jesus Christ. Salvation is God’s Free Gift to Us, but We Must Accept It.

  1. Salvation is only through the grace of Jesus paid for by his blood. (Ephesians 1:7)
  2. No amount of work on man’s part can earn it. (Ephesians 2: 8-9)
  3. We believe that those putting their trust in Christ should repent of their sins, confess faith in Jesus Christ, and be baptized by immersion into him. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38-39, Romans 6:3-4)
  4. We do not administer baptism to infants or to children who have not confessed faith in Jesus Christ, nor do we baptize by any mode other than by immersion.
  5. We would ask any believer who has not been baptized by immersion to submit that New Testament form before becoming a member of Real Life Christian Church. (Romans 10:9; Acts 2:38-39; Romans 6:3-4)

We Believe Jesus Christ is the Head of the Church

The Church is the body of Christ on Earth. It exists to communicate the good news of his life in Jesus Christ to the world, to teach his followers to obey his teachings, and to equip his followers for ministry. The church is made up of those who have placed their faith in Christ. (1 Corinthians 12:27; Matthew 28:19-20; John 10:10; Ephesians 4:11-14; Acts 2:38)

We Believe Satan is Real

He desires to “kill, steal, and destroy” the Church and that he is ruler over the present world system. (Job 1:6; Matthew 4:1; John 10:10; 2 Corinthians 11:14; 2 Thessalonians 2:8-9; Hebrews 2:14; Ephesians 6:12; 1 Peter 5:8; 1 John 3:8)

We Believe Jesus Will Someday Return for His Church

All the dead will be resurrected – the believer to everlasting joy with the Lord – the unbeliever to everlasting punishment. Heaven and Hell are both very real. ( 2 Thessalonians 1:9, 2 Peter 1:4-9, 3:7; Jude 13; Revelation 20:15)
